Well, we FINALLY planted the Squash!
We planted two types. One was a acorn squash and the other was the stereotypical zucchini!
Here is Hannah And Melinda standing next to the corn in a three sisters garden... Its really growing! It is starting to get hot here... I need to do a better job of watering the three sisters gardens... The beans don't look happy.

Check out this picture. Its Melinda (senior) and Becky with Daddy after picking some vegetables circa 1953?. (It appears to be onions and a eggplant)
here's the thing... Look at the pictures. Doesn't David resemble Daddy, and Hannah resemble Melinda?

I have been remiss... We have not planted the gourds in the three sisters garden yet... We HAVE to do that this week.

I have not shown you the cucumbers yet,, so, here they are:

And, here for the first time in the ground after 3 months in the tray...
the heirloom tomato plants!! Give them a hand!
I think they will need it.
Kathi says that they are stunted and will not grow, because they were in the tray too long. Does that really happen? I guess we will find out.

Here is a picture of the run over sisters garden, about 5 days after the incident. (Its the one Melinda is watering)
Its not looking great, but at lest it still exists! We will let it grow to see what it decides to do.
I think we figured out the culprit. The garden is right next door to a "Waffle House" (that's the black wall in the picture) We think a delivery truck that fills up the CO2 extinguisher that resides outside next to Arthurs house ran it over. I am going to go over there and have a talk with the manager.

Here is a picture of Hannah in front of the sweet corn... What ever happened to "Knee high by the fourth of July"??

Here is a fresh picture of the tomatoes. They are growing VERY fast... I dont remember tomatoes growing so fast before. I just planted the seedlings from the plat today. Lets see how fast THOSE tomatoes grow.

And we have beans!
isn't a garden just and absolutely amazing thing? You put a seed in the ground, and God has put everything else there for it to grow, and the information inside it to tell it what to do.
Just amazing.
(here is another link to read about the "three sisters garden".)

Wow... we have had a good deal of rain the last two days. The corn is already knee high, and those beans are sprouting as we speak.
I will take a walk to Arthurs with the girls, and take a picture.
