Here are Hannah and Melinda Planting the second of the three sisters, the beans. We planted Lake Valley "Kentucky Blue" Pole Beans. The corn will provide the beans a place to climb, and the beans will provide nitrogen for the corn. A wondrous, harmonious relationship! grow, Corn grow!

Ten days later.. Can you believe how fast that corn grows?? I guess we will be planting those beans early next week. (sorry for the poor picture, but you can still see the corn!)

On the home garden front, the tomatoes Kathi planted are growing like gangbusters... I cant believe how big they are already. Im about to plant the second row in our back your with my tomato seedlings... I have a feeling they will need some loving care. Pictures of that to come soon.

Hannah, Melinda and I went to Arthurs and planted the corn in 3 "Three Sisters Gardens" One of them we planted with "Ferry's seeds" Ornamental corn (amazingly, I can't find a web link for the company), and the other two we planted with Ferry Morse "silver sweet hybrid" sweet corn. In a week of so, we will plant the beens, and as soon as they sprout we will plant the pumpkins and squash.

Here is a picture of the two sisters planting the first seeds in the "three sisters" garden.

Here is a neat picture of Melindas hands... She has the hands of a professional gardener already!!!

I suppose this is a great time to talk about Genetically Modified (GM) plants, and how I am apposed to them. I cannot see how transgenic mutations, using gene lines from other SPIECIES can be good for humanity in the long run. I would bet a dollar to a dime that it is going to come back and bite us in the butt within 100 years. So, with that, I have started a "meetup" group (see meetup.com for more info) to try and meet other local people that might share my aversion. If you would like to sign up, go to gmfoods.meetup.com Hope to see you there.

Went to Arthur's yard and tilled the crop circles for the Three sisters gardens.
I'm going to try to get over there today with the kids to plant it. Kathi wanted to know why I was planting in his yard... I told her it's to have a place to walk to since I dont have an excuse to walk to the gas station anymore (after quitting Diet Coke) ...

Here is a picture of the "lady Banksia" rose in the back yard. It is a climbing rose and in early bloom.
(email me if you want the larger picture.. this one really does not do it justice.)

And here is the infamous tray of seedlings I yave been growing for two months.... Next year it is heated trays under grow lights FOR SURE...

And here is the first row of plants that made it into the ground... Kathi was getting impatient for my darn tray to grow, so she went and purchased some seedlings.. (I dont blame her..:) There are Tommy Toes, Roma, Cherry, and Goliath tomatoes, green peppers and cucumbers.
